ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

A Gold Award–winning beachfront transformation that turned an oceanfront lot into an amazing outdoor destination on the Carolina coast. Built within strict CAMA coastal boundaries — which required small machinery and careful hand-digging — the design makes the most of every inch of usable space. A resort-style custom concrete pool with clean lines anchors the property, framed by travertine pavers and coping, decorative boulders, and a retaining wall and natural bulkhead that protect the structure from the elements. A synthetic-turf putting green (ideal for the site's 98% sand base), an outdoor kitchen and bar, and a fire pit make it built for entertaining, while native Sabal palms, liriope, and dune grasses stabilize the sand and root the design in its coastal setting. Designed by Tim McAuliffe, The Outdoor Living Designer, and built by Smart Pools (Brian Elliott) — a Gold NALP Award of Excellence winner.
