ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
A Silver Award–winning coastal retreat with a full front-and-back transformation, built in an AE flood zone near the intracoastal waterway. The team navigated tight coastal access and strict flood-zone requirements while protecting existing trees with barriers and silt fencing — and the preserved and transplanted trees thrived and even bloomed during construction. A custom concrete pool with a plaster finish anchors the backyard, wrapped in a concrete deck with coping and tile, cabana and shed structures with stone masonry, fire bowls, and integrated low-voltage landscape and pool lighting. Comprehensive grading, drainage, and irrigation — including a front-entry renovation with decorative stone that conceals the drainage infrastructure — round out a space designed to handle its coastal setting beautifully. Designed by Tim McAuliffe, The Outdoor Living Designer, and built by Smart Pools — a Silver NALP Award of Excellence winner.
